Indigenous Knowledge(s) and Science Education

On Thursday February 22nd, the WiP is inviting Eun-Ji Amy Kim, PhD Candidate in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education at McGill University to give us a presentation about her work.

The event will take place in the boardroom at 17:00 and cookies and coffee will be provided.

In her Ph.D work, Amy considers the ways in which Indigenous cultures and perspectives are being included in educational curricula, pedagogy, and assessment policies. Her work recognises the ongoing disparities in science education outcomes for Indigenous students in Canada and the misrepresentation and appropriation of Indigenous cultures and Knowledges within the mainstream Eurocentric educational system

More information about her work can be found here and on her researchgate profile

The talk will be follow by a short discussion on how we could improve our teaching in the physics department.

Come and learn with us how we could make teaching more inclusive!
